Meowie Catmas!

It has been over three months since our birthday party and last post. You won't believe where we have been! We will save that post for another day, but let's just say that the story involves too much champagne, a box, a boat and a deserted island.

Thank goodness that we made back to Italy just in time wish all of our friends and loved ones a very Merry Christmas. Hope that Santa Paws came to your house last night and brought you all kinds of goodies.

As they say here in Italy, Buon Natale!

Love,
Opus and Roscoe

Our Purrday Party

Thank you all so much for the wonderful day! You really made our 11th birthday something special. We hope that you had as much fun as we did.

The party started with the arrival of our first guests, Grandma and Grandpa. They came with a stack full of goodies and even brought their own party hats! After that, it was a steady stream of guests arriving at our home in Italy. Thank you all for making the long trip!

Once everyone arrived safe and sound, it was time to "let the games begin". We started by breaking the group down into teams for a scavenger hunt. Here is the list of the items we were searching for:

1-ball of yarn

2- one white mouse with black spots (alive)

3- a dog bone

4- three feathers from a bird (also alive)

and

5- one can of sardines (NOT eaten)

The Diva Kitty Team won. On that team was Diva Kitty, the bunnies: Fiona & Orlando, Panther, Derby, Bob and Richard Simmons. They were the first ones to return back to our home with the list completed. Not an easy thing to accomplish when you consider the fact that no one around here speaks much English! Congrats to you all for a job well done!

Next on the list was pin the tail of the human. Mom thought it would be fun to put a spin on the the old "donkey tail" game by using a picture of her! Roscoe got confused while playing and ended up pining the tail ON our mom! Ouch! He says it was accident, since he was blind folded and Mom was just standing too close to the poster. I don't think it was an accident, but it sure was funny! Eric was the winner on that game when he got the tail square on the bum of the human! Good job Eric!

After that, we all went outside to take turns hitting the pinata. We laughed when we saw a giant papermache doberman pincher hanging from the tree! It was just for fun and not meant to offend our only canine guest. We took turns hitting it until Mini hit it so hard that it split open. Kitty treats showed down upon our heads like candy from heaven.

When it was over, Mom thought it would be a good time to eat lunch. But you know how cats can be after eating a few treats. We took a vote and decided that we should all have a nice long nap. So we all snuggled up (with the exception of the humans) on the outside terrace and took a long nice nap under the Italian sun.

Lunch was great, when we finally woke up to eat (long after noon). Mom had a veggie spread for the bunnies, Orlando and Fiona, and steak for Shefarra and the humans. The rest of us filled our big bellies with all kinds of fresh sea food. We ate until we were stuffed like turkeys on Thanksgiving day. Then what did we do? Well the cats took a bath (a lick bath NOT a tub bath) and then we all snuggled down for our second nap of the day. Of course Richard Simmons wanted us all to exercise after such a big meal, but we hissed a little and he left us alone to sleep.

Later our Mom had a prize contest. The winner were as follows:

Most Tolerant Guest- Shefarra, for being the only dog in a sea of cats.

Best Dressed- Gigolo Kitty, he always looks his best and is never caught naked. A role model to all cats.

Bravest Guest- Little Fiona and Orlando Bun for trusting that none of the cats would eat them.

Best Humans- Bob, Lisa, Grandma and Grandpa for spending the day in the animal house

Each of the winners recived a giant, fresh, sea bass. But Mom said that everyone who came to our party is a winner and so every guest went home with a romote controlled mouse!

Thank you all so much for the wonderful day!
Love,
Opus and Roscoe

Buon Compleanno Opus and Roscoe

Opus and Roscoe,
Who would have thought that a couple of Indiana farm cats would end up living a dream life in Italy! The three of us have come a long way!

You two have been a great source of enjoyment in my life. Your unconditonal love and friendship mean the world to me. You have always been by my side, through thick and thin, better or worse, richer AND poor. You have loved me with the simple conditon of a warm bed to sleep in and a full bowl of cat food at all times. Not a bad price tag on friendship!

Wishing you all the best on this, your 11th birthday. May we enjoy many more years of happiness together and may all your kitty birthday wishes come true!

Grazie

All of us at Cat Naps in Italy want to thank our friends, human and feline, for playing "Where in the World Are Opus and Roscoe". We had some great ideas. Here are a few.....

In America: In Indiana, Whiskonsin, San Franfrskie, and a Cat Stevens concert in Cattolica and the woods near Oreo's home.

In Italy: San Gimignano, the Olympics in Turin, Rome, Lake Lugano, Pisa, at home asleep and at home under the bed.

Around the World: Indina and Singapuuuuur

At last the cats are here, at home, and ready to tell you about their adventures. BUT right now they are getting ready for a birthday party tomorrow. Stay tuned to hear more about their vacation.

Sending out an S.O.S.

It has been two months now since we last heard from these trouble makers, a new record in laziness even for them. Has anyone see these guys?

Remember the children's show "Where in the World is Carmen Sandieo?" or the book "Where's Waldo"? Well Cat Naps in Italy asks its viewers a similar question.....

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS OPUS AND ROSCOE??????

Please leave your ideas in the comment box. Perhasp if we guess right, the boys will come back and tell us all about their adventures.....

Opus making plans for his next adventure

Have you seen either of these cats?

Happy Father's Day

We wanted to wish our male human a very happy Father's Day. Well, it isn't Father's day here in Italy, but it sure is back home. We are still very American at heart and will celebrate it TODAY!

Although our male human does not have any human children of his own, we like to think of us as his babies.

Lunch with our male human

Happy Father's day male human. Thank you for everything, like food, cat liter and a really soft bed to sleep in! You are the best!

Love,
Opus and Roscoe

Happy Easter

Wishing all of our friends and loved ones a very Happy Easter.

In Italy, there is no Easter bunny. It seems a little strange, but also nice that bunnies don't have to go to work on a holiday. No Easter baskets, no chocolate bunnies and no marshmallow chicks either! I think next year we will go home to the States to celebrate Easter!

Don't feel too sorry for us though. We get to eat a yummy dove shaped cake, pasta in broth and a giant chocolate Easter egg with a prize inside. We do hope the surprise is a mouse!

Buona Pasqua!

Opus and Roscoe

Naughty Cat Bloggers

The humans have done a great job of hogging the computer all for themselves! Not to put all the blame on them as we have been more lazy then usual. We had so much fun with our Grandma that we have been wiped out since she left.

We wanted to go home with her, we even had our bags packed. Then we found out that we were going to be stuffed into the belly of the noisy scary thing (I think it is called a plane) and we said FORGET IT! WE'RE STAYING!

Our female human wanted to clear up any possible misunderstandings made by one of our Grandma's comments. Our human is NOT, I repeat, NOT going to have a baby. Her brother back in America is expecting one this summer. Who needs a baby when all of the attention in our house should be showered on us cats?

And so for our adventures.....ah, where should we even begin? I think we should start with our trip to Venice during the Carnival....

..Stay tuned!

Woman Day

Today is the Giorno della Donna in Italy, the Day of the Woman! And yes, we are still in Italy, but is a whole other story.

The Italians buy mimosas, a beautiful yellow flower, to give to their girlfriends, wives, mothers, sisters and grandmas. Everyone is running around with these pretty little flowers in thier hands today. We bought some for our female human with help of the male human.

Wishing all our female feline friends (and other girls as well...humans..dogs...ect.) a very happy Girl Day!

Opus and Roscoe

Grandma = Fun

We have been having so much fun since our Grandma arrived! She allows us to get away with things that our humans never do!

She makes us little beds in front of the windows so we can enjoy the sunshine...

We get to sleep on the kitchen table....

She even lets us drink beer!

We sure do love having Grandma here!

Opus was not happy when Nonna picked him AND Roscoe up at the same time. He needs to learn how to share. I did what every good parent would do and grabbed the camera.

Grandma is Here!

For once we have not been lazy cats. This is the third time we have written this post. For some reason they keep disappearing....

Grandma is here! She arrived with hugs, kisses, toys and cat nip! It is true that there is no cat nip in Italy and we are happy that Grandma has smuggled some in for us. Thank goodness she wasn't caught in customs by the cat nip sniffing dogs. Dumb dogs!

We are so happy to have our Grandma here and hope she joins us on an adventure or two.

Welcome to Italy Nana!

Nonna

Tomorrow our Grandma arrives! We are soooo excited! She is always so good to us and brings treats. Not that we love her ONLY for the treats, but it sure makes us love her even more.

Word on the street is that she will be smuggling in cat nip (can't buy it here in Italy)! We sure hope she doesn't get caught by the catnip smelling dogs at the airport. We were going to join Cat Nip Anonymous, but maybe that will have to wait for another day!

Today is going to drag on forever, we sure wish it was tomorrow already. Mom seems to want us to help her get ready for company. Maybe we will help, but first we need a "quick" nap!

See you tomorrow Grandma! Saving all of our kisses and puuurs for you!

Birthday Party!

Sending out a big Happy Birthday (or Buon Compleanno as they say in Italy) to our male human. We can't even count what that makes him in cat years!

Seven Days and Counting

The count down has started! We are so excited because next Wednesday our Grandma arrives in Italy! We can barely sleep at night! Who are we kidding? We are cats, we can ALWAYS SLEEP! Grandma is a sweet lady who gives us lots of hugs and tons of kisses. We can not wait to see her. Only one more week to go! Have a safe trip Grandma and we will see you soon!

Buon Anno

Sending all of you a belated Happy New Year! Things have been a little crazy around here AND we have also been a little lazy. Will write later about our holiday adventures. Just wanted to wish you all the best in the year to come.
